Set as Default Value
It seems there is an option to Reset to default in the browser top bar options but we cannot set something as default which in my opinion we should. I find myself that I like to look for files a lot by modification date but I have to change it every time I open the browser window. I think we should have an option to set some settings as defaults so it would make more sense than the reset to default option we already have which takes longer than actually change it back to ¨sort by name¨ for instance.

Maybe it could even be extended across all values so we can set lots of things to have a new desired default value? Just wondering. What do you guys think?
@luisburdallo: Definitely would love the ability to do the following for any value.
Set Default, Revert to default, and Revert to factory default.
Would probably end up being the best way to set autosmooth defaults among other things others may want to do.
@billyjonsmith: Yes I also think it would be great to have our own defaults for everything as we all have different preferences based on our workflow even if its temporal. Being able to reset to your previous default setting as well as factory default would also be a great thing to have. Will change the title to just Set as Default value.
What if, instead, Blender would just remember your last chosen options in the file system browser? So, if last time you've chosen to sort by "date", next time you open the file system browser the sorting would be set to "date" again? This would also skip the manual step of having to set the default in the fisrt place.
This should work across sessions. Meaning: if you close Blender and open it again, it should still remember that info.
Now, if I'm not mistaken, you can already have sort set to "date" by default by just choosing to sort by date once and then saving your start up file/save user settings, no?
@hyuri.pimentel: For the browser that's a common behavior and I think it would be enough. As we were discussing set as default could work for many things so you can actually retain any initial values for your needs. I think is a great idea. I don't think you can retain any sorting value by saving your startup file because it seems to reset every time you actually open a file or load an image. That was the main reason I made the proposal for. It reverts back to a default state once you close the browser and reopen.
