Ability for users with high 'karma' to edit other peoples proposals.

While this sounds risky, it seems to work quite well for stack-exchange network.

Edits should be limited to:

  • Typo/grammar corrections.
  • Clarify proposal (title, terminology, make corrections) .
  • Correct category (have already seen some posts in wrong category) .
  • Link to relevant resources (related suggestions, patches, design tasks... work done in this area) .

But not to change the intent of the proposal.

I wish someone would have done that for me. Brand new here I was ambitious and posted 3 ideas to make Blender better. Next day I get -25 Karma. Now I am banned from posting. So Am I done here no more contributions for you forever?

I personally prefer to suggest the OP to make the modifications himself. Here's why :

  • This way the OP may realize he(she) can modify his post and may learn a bit of markdown if needed
  • the OP feels more free (or empowered). Even though the changes are good (which hasn't always been the case for me on stackexchange), it doesn't make you feel great when what you wrote has been changed without you being notified. Or maybe that's just me.

This is good but how can I gain karma? with votes?

I like the concept, but I think it might require re-evaluating how karma is assigned in Dillo. I'm not sure that just having a few popular proposals is necessarily a great indicator of having the ability to edit posts. Also, I think some stackexchange-like accountability features would need to be included as well... so people can know who actually edited their posts.

I'll think more on it, though.
