Edge slide rotation

Rotation, but with vertex slide.

As requested in this SE question , and as shown in this video of 3Ds max

This would be very useful during retopology, as well as during general modeling (e.g. it would provide a quick solution to this problem )

In 3Ds max this appears to be implemented as a global "lock to edges/faces" toggle, which applies to more than rotation (see the video for examples). Perhaps a similar approach would be nice for blender too?

This can be extremely useful. Rotation center should be based on selected Pivot Point like Cursor or Median. Pressing R while in Slide mode can enable "mode" of operator as E does (Even). So get have branching like that: G>G invoke vertex slide. -- R turn to rotation mode -- E turn to even mode ------ F flips side in even mode

Pressing E or R twice switches back to normal mode if specific modes are enabled. Just like switching between Rotation / Trackbal Rotation or Grab / Vertex Slide.

BTW. Fweeb. How do you get this dark background for key letters?

For the key letters, it just a little HTML. This markup:

<kbd>G</kbd>

And you get <kbd>G</kbd>. :)

This is a must!! Its really needed for precise modelling

Love this, simple and so efficient!

But also scaling and moving!)

I dreamed with this little feature several times. The current way to achieve that is duplicating and using skinwrap (too much tedious in comparison). Hotkeys combination must not slow it's implementation.

Also a feature where if for example, the adjacent edge loops were not parallel, and pressing (G) twice, would give and option to either follow the rotation of the loop, or instead be straight, would be cool, like press (G)(G) and then toggle (R) to change the angles?

thomasmouilleron

can't you just do shift ctrl alt s to shear?

* @Thomas Paul * Yes you can

fiendari

typing rotation number would be nice too too :)
