Sync visibility between viewport and render
Don't need this to be a built-in feature, I don't even want an add-on, not necessarily, but can a Python wizard please make a quick script that I can use to sync the render visibility to the one in the viewport.
I'm doing archviz renders (using the awesome MeasureIt-ARCH add-on) and something I find excruciatingly confusing is the fact that I need to hide all my other objects when I want to render out a single one (via '/' local view) before you ask : No, I can't use viewport render because the dimensions only work in compositing, and vprender doesn't do compositing
If you for some reason think implementing a hidden local mode render would be more difficult, I have enough patience to Shift+H and (custom render visibility sync shortcut (preferably Ctrl+Shift+Alt+H ) ) before every render, and then I can Alt+H and Ctrl+Shift+Alt+H afterward to return to the original visibility.
As of now, the only way I can do this is if I select an object, go to the outliner, press ' . ' to lock center it, press the camera icon, REPEAT FOR ALL OTHER OBJECTS ), render, then spam Ctrl+Z
no, I don't think cleverly using layers or collections would do the trick, because you would have to create A LOT of them, one for every couple objects in the scene and it doens't speed things up that much.

It seems to me that you want a feature that supports a kind of backwards workflow.
In the best case, you'd make your objects collections in their own .blend files and then link them to a master scene .blend file where they're all together. This way, if you want to render an individual object, you just go to its corresponding file and render it. This workflow can even be facilitated using the Edit Linked Library add-on (full disclosure, I originally wrote that add-on) so you can do those renders quickly.
this site isnt for custom and personal requests, take this to a forum. you make proposals here to improve blender
Have you tried the render on/off option of the outliner? It should do what you need, Only render what you want and see everything in the viewport... You might have to tweak the view filters options of the outliner to see it appear... (Top right icon on the outliner window)
By default, the only enabled filter is the view on/off ...

* @Christian Clavet * I want to only render WHAT I SEE in the viewport
* @meutzitzu * Ok. Understood.
The only solution I see for this is using animation. You could create an animation and set your camera in front of each object for each frame. You would center as you do now with the '.' key, create a keyframe for the camera for each object. For this to work, you could animate the visibility of each object, or space them so they are not in the frame (depending on the scene).
Having a script for this kind of thing would really be too specialized for a generic use. You will problably have to hire a developper for this.
* @meutzitzu * blenderartists.org/ this is your home, get out please
* @Christian Clavet * can you at least tell me how I can get the Ctrl+H, Ctrl+Shift+H and Ctrl+Alt+H shortcuts as they were in 2.79 ?
* @meutzitzu * Perhaps this:
This will put as it was in 2.79.
You can also edit the keymap individually, in the preference window...
