Add Pen Slice Tool to Sculpt Mode and Edit Mode – With New "Slice Tools" Category
I’d like to propose a new tool called Pen Slice, and introduce a new category in Blender called “Slice Tools”, similar to how Trim Tools are grouped in Sculpt Mode.
🖊️ What is Pen Slice? Pen Slice would let you draw curved lines across a mesh to slice geometry in Sculpt Mode and Edit Mode, using the feel of the Curve Pen from Curve Edit Mode. It's a more artistic and fluid way to cut into geometry.
🧽 In Sculpt Mode: Like Trim Line, but with curved strokes instead of straight cuts.
Great for cutting shapes, isolating areas, or carving detail lines.
Would respect Dyntopo or Remesh workflows.
✂️ In Edit Mode: Functions like a curve-based knife tool, ideal for inserting clean loops, edge flow guides, or shaping the mesh fast.
Perfect for base mesh creation, topology refinement, or hard surface modeling.
Why it's needed:
Pen Slice would give artists a more intuitive, pen-like slicing experience.
A new “Slice Tools” category would help organize tools that are focused on slicing and cutting, just like Trim Tools are for trimming.
This would greatly speed up prototyping, stylized modeling, and concept sculpting, blending the best of drawing, slicing, and modeling.
