Zoom on cursor in the video timeline

Currently in version 2.80, the mouse wheel zooms in on the centre of the displayed timeline. It makes it cumbersome to zoom with only the mouse: you need to alternatively pan with the middle button to adjust the centre, then zoom with the wheel, then pan, etc.

It would be better to zoom in on the cursor, i.e. that the time under the cursor remains at the same position on the screen when zooming in and out. That is how zoom is implemented in many software such as Inkscape and Gimp. It makes it very intuitive to reach a precise point with only the mouse.

there's an option for this that works in 3D and 2D viewports, if it doesn't work in the timeline or elsewhere it should definitely be added.

Many thanks. I had not found this option and it works in the timeline too!

For reference, the option can be found in "menu Edit > Preferences... > Navigation > Zoom > Zoom to Mouse Position". I think it could be activated by default as it is much more intuitive.
