Customise the number of autosaves

As far as I know now it's possible to only decide the interval between autosaves. I'm a lover of incremental saves (in general I think there should be a way to incrementally save without having to select "save" and press the "+" button) and so I'd like to see incremental saves in the autosaves too.

At the moment I can see only 2 autosave per file.

I saw you can increase the number of the previous versions of a file but I don't think it's the same thing as an autosave. This feature will keep previous manually saved versions (which is basically what I'm already doing by incrementally save my projects).
