Splines & Snapping

As an archviz user for 10+ years I have tried blender numerous times, and I still come across major issues regarding accuracy. I like Cycles, I like the fact its easy to use since 2.8 interface update, I think you would have lots of people come from the archviz industry if you have:

  • a library of base splines to choose from, rectangle, arc, ngon at the minimum (these are what most archviz users need to begin with).
  • let the user choose from the start if they want bezier curves or corners for their splines
  • spline outlines so you can offset the thickness of your walls and change this later
  • snapping for grid, points, vertex, edge, segment, face, endpoint, midpoint, centre
  • good sweep tools such as being able to take an object or a shape and sweep it along a spline ( i know you have this functionality but its limited), you should be able to select pivots, geometry positions (inside, outside, centre, offsets, angles, corner radius for built in chamfering), save these as presets
  • parametric workflow - you should be able to put modifers on top of modifiers and adjust modifiers below so that you can change window widths later, or chamfer widths, etc.
  • measuring tools so you can see the width/length of your spline is so you can readjust later if required (not the built in measure tool but something in the properties so you can parametrically adjust the size)

These are just a couple off the top of my head, I could add to this list if you are indeed interested in extending blender towards archviz users.

You really should split this up into individual posts so they can be addressed, discussed, and voted up on separately.
