"ghost" fill options for 3d curves

Apparently the FILL option only works with 2D (not 3D) curves.

If that is true, the options should be GHOSTED when a curve is switched to 3D.

One of the things that makes Blender so hard to learn is the inconsistent application of hiding context inappropriate options in the UI: sometimes they vanish TOTALLY, which is confusing because you can no longer find them (but defended as "buhhh they're naaaat appropriate....") or they're seemingly left visible, but non-operative.

Whereas ghosting would work better in almost all cases to cue the user that currently, the option is inappropriate.

That is not true actually, the fill option controls which "quarters" of the curve bevel are built. Try it out!

I'm not thrilled with how Blender handles non-usable functions in general. It's a bit of an anti-pattern to have parameters that simply disappear when they aren't available. For example, all the options that just vanish when you switch renderers leads to so much confusion-- "Where was that option I had a minute ago??... I could swear it was here..." Instead, Blender could gray out the option--and trying to change a grayed out option could pop-up a tooltip like, "This option only available when using Cycles renderer". I'm sure this has been discussed to death in a million different contexts..
