Bidirectional crease control

I moved from making lo-fi models to polished high poly meshes and learned really fast that crease is not as precise as needed.

Crease can help you on the flight and on obivious parts of the model, to really keep control over the edge hardness you still better add edge loops and make your mesh an uneditable mess (really I don't get it).

Why is crease not enough? because crease sets the same value for both directions of the edge.

If crease would support setting weight for both directions you wouldn't make a mess out of your meshes and crease would be a complete tool.

This could be solved with an extra key pressed when setting crease (a live tool setting like when using the knife tool would be awesome)

Additonaly it could be set to be at constant distance from the edge or proportional to the face size bilateralcrease.png

The Idea is really great, BUt I never heared of a function like this in other software. Not sure if it is possible with current Sub-D / open SubDiv concepts. Also the interface would be quite complex... but non the less Great Idea!

Does OpenSubdiv support directional creases?
