One click "zero out" transforms when in edit mode
The scenario is pretty common. We create an object and edit it (with no transforms). Then, we place the object in the scene, so the location, rotation, and / or scale change. After that, we want to make some more edits to this object. But with the transforms applied is difficult to manipulate.
The only current solution to this (i think), is to use an empty and parent / unparent. But in a scene with many objects, it's impractical to have as many empties. Too much effort i think.
An option somewhere at the top (maybe next to pivot point controls ?) visible when in edit mode, will be really handy. You enable it, and the object has no transforms. Maybe you can have an option to keep the parent transforms (when parented) or not. Exit the edit mode, and transforms are applied normally.
thanks

Stupid question: why not just use local coordinates?
* @Jason van Gumster * you can... but sometimes the way you see the object aligned in all viewports is also important. There is also the option to "align view". This would work but requires more effort to setup.
* @Nick * Why does it take more effort to set up? It's already just a hotkey (or menu click) away.
* @Jason van Gumster * it only aligns a single view. Not all orthographic views.
* @Nick * Are you using quad view when you work?
* @Jason van Gumster * sometimes yes. But even when working in single view, i switch from perspective to ortho many times. So i have to select align view each time i switch. Except if i'am missing something here.
It's not something i can't live without, but is a small convenience.
* @Nick * Is it possible that you're doing all of this view changing without using the Numpad hotkeys?
* @Jason van Gumster * I use a tkl keyboard. I find it very easy to just click on the axis on the top right corner of the viewport.
