KNIFE MODE TO WORK WHILE SNAP IS TURNED ON
i dont know whether it's a bug or so but when snap is turned on ,in knife mode it doesnt snap ,instead we need to hold ctrl. It would be better if it would work by default while in snap mode.

Yes in blender 2.9 hold cntrl d3atived the the snapping by default.maybe try the snap utilities linear tool .is a good Tool and comes in a free Version default in blender but ist not activ by default
Mine does snap without ctrl. (2.83) on the second dot, just not on the first with the knife cursor.
