Add playback controls to view animation window

The animation player within Blender is extremely barebones, with only the video filling the whole window. At the very least it should offer basic playback controls such as play/pause and a progress bar for scrubbing through the video. You can already do these things and more through keyboard shortcuts, but they should be part of the UI as well.

The whole video itself is a timeline. click and drag on the video to scrub forward and backwards.

I know this isn't what you asked for but I suggest you try out DJV from here . Its quite good and feature rich, check this video .

And what's good is that its completely free and you can use it to play your blender animations directly by changing your preferred animation player in the preferences.

+1 for DJV view. If you plan to be pro, I would also suggest trying out Keyframe Pro, it isn't free but there's a demo, and it does basically the same as DJV, but with more tools, one being to be able to draw on frames. Extremely usefull for animators. And if you're going pro, it's totally worth the little price.

I would also like to be able to view the animation in a panel, similar to the image editor. Not sure how it feels on Windows, but on a Mac the floating window is a weird anomaly.
