What if ColorRamp could interact with Group Nodes?

When I make a "Node Group" I always struggle with the "filling" on my procedural textures, since I can't adjust the ColorRamp from my Group Inputs.

I believe my proposal could pretty much "fix" this.

On the Group Node you would be able to change the distance and also the color without having to enter and find the related node inside.

This could be VERY useful for my workflow. I haven't been able to setup a good alternative to my colorramp setup and I always have to get inside the group to tweak it.

* @chris32 * glad you like it. :)

Still hoping for an interactive ColorRamp...

+1. Also what I like about your proposal is the fact that we could change the position of the gradient nodes in those fields. Currently, if two nodes are really close to each other is really hard to select the one that you need to move.

* @jcfnav * oh and I didn't even think about that. YES! Very often when I try to select a color I end up moving another the wrong way...

I think you can set your sights higher then this... we could have a button which pushes the entire interface for a given node up into the group node

* @cerebral * yes yes yes! An input that could port the whole bar would also be pretty great. Giving both modular and full interface options would be great!

anyone found a way to change the color outside the group?

I'm 100% sure you can do this with drivers

just plug in some VALUE nodes and RGB nodes in the input of you node setup, expose them and then control the pos with a driver

meutzitzu

aaah, see, what I always do is add "Custom Properties" to the material and acces them through drivers

* @meutzitzu * I'll test that out! Thanks. Having this easy option would be quite good though :)

Yes please. The Map node needs more modular ability to add input and output of it's ramp data so we can transfer that data to other nodes. You can build a dual colour with certain interpolation ramp node with two values, but adding points more is a chore. Having this built in would be great and a huge time saver.

* @Andres Stephens - Trinumedia * thanks! I'm glad you liked it. It would speed things up a LOT.
