Node counter
it would be useful to always know how many nodes you already have.
when you duplicate a group of nodes, you will duplicate all the nodes that are in the inside of the group, and the (unique node counter) will only count them once.

Why?
Makes sense to me. Mockup:
Selected / All and option to turn off in overlay settings, same as 3d view object counter.
github.com/vladantrhlik/node-counter You can try this addon.
i know there are addons, and i have one, but i want it to be built in
If I told you that your node setup had 57 nodes, what would you do next? Add a couple of more, take a few out?
I think having counter of selected / all nodes would be helpful in cases where you do mass actions on them.
For example you imported a batch of pbr textures and want to set them all to non color - you can glance at counter before doing it to double check if you missed some.
Total node count is bit less useful since node amount is not a good indication of performance, but it still might encourage more lean setups and grouping.
So similar reasons to having selected / total object counter in 3d view basically.
