Show UV distortion Heat Map in 3D View
Would be nice and very nifty to have the UV "Stretching" overlay also display in the 3D viewport. This would be nice if you could change the opacity so you can view a checker texture under it. Sort of like in Headus UV layout. Sort of like this:
It could perhaps be added instead under the "Display overlay" section, along with the "Face Orientation" overlay under the Geometry area., and with opacity control to show texture underneath

its kinda standard so nothing fancy but mandatory
It would also be awesome if we could have this as a texture node in the materials. would be very useful for for example stretchy geometry that becomes more transparent the more it is stretched.
* @Jazz * I didn't understand the utility but this example is great. mrgesy, what do you think about including this in your suggestion? I mean, have what you suggest also as a node.
* @Luis Perez * I don't really see a use for it as a node. Maybe there is some utility but I'm not sure. It could be also added under the "Display overlay" section, along with the "Face Orientation" overlay under the Geometry area., along with opacity control to show texture underneath
Very useful feature.
My student is attempting to solve this issue by writing an addon as a part of his bachelor's thesis. Check out the git page, or you can download the addon for free on gumroad.
