Stop-motion tools

I'd love tools for making actual stop-motion in Blender, similar to Dragonframe. Live camera feed, onionskinning, blink, etc.

I was asked to teach an animation course to young kids and equipment limitations made me think of it. I've been a 3D animator for almost 30 years and I love that Blender has 3D, 2D, grease pencil, VFX and editing all in one package. Adding real world stop-motion tools would be the last piece of the animation puzzle.

Thank you!

Ok, but the main thing that would make this proposal interesting for readers and developers is detailing what are those tools.

* @-L0Lock- * it mainly is controlling all camera settings, exposure, shutter, ISO, etc. seeing a live view from the camera. Blink flashes between last captured frame and live view. Onion skin is exactly like grease pencil and being able to draw on frame for use of guides. being able to add videos for rotoscoping. Multiple exposure setup. DMX lighting controls. Motion control setup to control motion control rigs. Keypad controls, people use Bluetooth number pads to trigger camera, advance frames, playback, turn on blink, onion skin, etc.

* @dogoodernyc * Oh so if I understand you actually want to plug a camera to your PC and Blender do be the capture software managing each shot and camera settings?

Huh... I'd rather stick to CGI...

* @-L0Lock- * yes, that's exactly how stop-motion works. Thanks.

You could already do stopmotion currently if you have the pictures ready and import them as an image sequence in the Video editor. Though if what you want is an even simpler approach or some way to do it live, you should try and flesh out your post
