Deep Compositing (.EXRs) (Many VFX Studios want this)

Hey guys,

This has been requested a few times in the last few years but unfortunately has gone unnoticed it seems.

Deep .EXRs are a functionality every major VFX Studio uses as part of their compositing process. It helps layer together complex shots that include motion blur, volumetrics, particles, and more.

With just depth, a number of shots are extremely long to render, or add depth of field to. Without Deep Data - you also run into numerous edge issues when layering the image back together.

Having worked at Weta, ILM , and Sony - a number of the shots we produced would not have been possible - or the efficiency would have been much longer, without Deep EXRs.

Thanks guys! Really hope this will be considered higher - I think studios would start using Blender much more if this is prioritized.

Please developers This is a very necessary feature for film production. I know its probably not thought of as "high priority" but without this function, it is very difficult to integrate blender usage into a pipeline.

I have been trying to find an alternative renderer for blender to use along side with cycles to just output a DEEP render. If any developers have any suggestions (renderman, or redshift perhaps??) please let us know as it could at least be a workaround until it is implemented locally in blender.

thanks

Just +1 to deep outputs. Its such a fantastic addition, not just for VFX but also for animation projects too!
