Array over an area
Hi guys and girls. A simple idea for an improvement to the array modifier. Array over a surface. Rather than having to set up multiple arrays and things like this a simple option to array over the surface of another mesh with a settable distance would greatly improve the speed of a lot of workflows.
It should keep the scale of the original object and it should cut the objects on the unselected axis when it reaches the edge of the surface.
I have tried (& purchased) the Tiler addon for this function but I think this method could be better when doing slightly more unorthodox arrays.

What you want may be an array modifier and a boolean modifier. That would cut the edges off. But you might also use duplis and boolean, that way you'd only have whole copies.
It is more like shrinkwrap + dupli. Or particles from surface. Did you try this?
