Vertex colour for gradients on Grease Pencil fills

Currently, we can only change the fill colour to a single solid colour. It would be nice if we could colour a fill with multiple colours just like we can with a stroke.

I was thinking about this a while back actually and while I like the idea, I struggle to imagine how it should be implemented. In it's absolute core, I see 2 ways this could potentially be approached.

  1. mapping of raster texture - this is already present but the mapping part of it could be improved in my opinion. Also comes with a drawback of resolution limitations
  2. some sort of color interpolation propagating from defined in points / curves in filled area.

Although these ideas of mine are super rough and vague and I feel like solving of this problem should be approached with caution.

On the other hand, Hey! GP materials node system support is comming I believe, so that might be the answer to this problem :)

Or maybe it could add vertices to the Grease Pencil fill, just like dynamic tesselation adds geometry below the brush cursor in sculpt mode.

This is unrelated to this proposal, but just to mention that at the bottom of the Create/Edit post page, you can read the instructions on how to embed YouTube videos.

Millet usually the video either does not load or is present as a link, and the working player here surprised me a lot
