Materials & Textures Filing System
It'd be nice if the materials and textures you made in Blender were saved in a file that you can access from a menu in Blender 2.8. Then you could drag and drop them onto objects if you want to delete, rename etc.

they working on it, it should be coming in 2.8x
I want to be able to view materials from inside Blender, even if those materials aren't connected to any mesh. And they will only be deleted if I manually select them and do so.
Forgive me for being a little bit confused. Most of this functionality already exists in Blender. How is your proposal different?
@Jason van Gumster: Currently if you want to view a material you have to create a material slot or go to one on a model you already may have in your scene. If you want to delete a material you have to make sure that no models have it assigned then you have to close and reopen Blender. The current system is very poor right now. I'd like a file system where you can delete, rename, create etc. and Could even transfer materials easily over to other projects.
* @mrprick0 * Like how you would drag and drop a material onto an object in Maya.
