Automatic recovery from crash
This function is optional.
When user leaves Blender rendering overnight, it might crash during the night. Solution is this other program, which detects if Blender crashes and restarts program again, and starts rendering.
User can set "crash limit", which indicates after how many consecutive crashes system gives up and doesnt try to restart Blender. Crashes must occur in X second intervals, default is 60.
User can set alarm on, and program beeps when Blender crashes.

That sounds like a nice idea for an external application that is complimentary to Blender but it involves quite a bit of time investment.
The optimal solution is that Blender just doesn't crash...which is what the developers are always trying to achieve. It sounds unrealistic but I think the efforts are better spent reducing crashes rather than creating a new app to work around them. If a developer wanted to pick this up though, it would likely help at least some people.
