Yeah it's bugging me too. I would move the checkbox to the immediate right of the text though.

I disagree about that. I don't want my eyes to go in zigzags while browsing for checkboxes, as their position would depend on the length of text... Still, your way would be better than it is.
Ideally, I would align all the "Preset" buttons under each other, and checkboxes under each other in another column. But there are only a few panels with the preset button, and only a few with checkboxes...

Yes, the outliner works that way so I'm sure it would be fine. I guess I'm a little bit thrown off by having text and the corresponding checkbox potentially be separated by a looooong empty space. It's all fine though. Anything but checkbox on the far left.
