there's a lot of addons that should be implemented by default, like node wrangler...
* @moonboots * maybe there should be "paper-cut" like initiative to get an updated list of add-ons that should be shipped with blender out of the box and which ones should be enabled by default.
* @-L0Lock- * That's even better, I'm all in for node wrangler as well. i wanted to address that some addons who are so often used like every time are not even part of default blender, it doesnt consume a lot of memmory and it would be easier in your workflows.
* @-L0Lock- * With some survey for proposed list of candidates.
Then most wanted addons will become enabled by default. But it need to share such surveys with world somehow - else it will be some 50 active users and not representative.
* @IIIFGIII * the current set is decided by some developpers, that's less representative.
And node wrangler. It was in 2.8 todolist but got removed and i don't know the reason. (maby they fear to don't have enough dev to support the addon in all future versions)
I'd be with the ability to convert a reference image to a polygon.
+1
But IMO better to not " enabled by default " something but some " Package " presets in startup splash. Just existing of such option will attract user attention to addons. Even if someone need some more specific set of addons for work - this user will be informed that " some addons exist but not enabled, go to preferences and check".
When I know exactly what I need to enable, key problem is that most of new to Blender users ( old sometimes too) don't even suspect that there are already lot of cool stuff just in box in this poor 160 Mb.
* @IIIFGIII *
So true! Even tutorials or official documentation don't introduce addons much, they barely mention them as "enable this one and go back to business".
Why don't u just migrate settings instead?
* @impacman * It is still a very commonly used feature that's disabled by default. Imagine if alembic was disabled. Or node wrangler. Oh wait...
