Security of copying, exporting files (Professional Blender)

Hello World! =)

I thought about the professional future of Blender, came up with my own project for reflection and came across such a problem, this problem concerns copy protection, administration of work projects and the like.

For example: We have a company that is engaged in 3D modeling and visualization of objects. With each new project, the company develops a database (Library of Assets), which must be protected from the "Runners". And this is a nuance! =)

Employees who are hired by the employer as a staff, in this case a model designer, tend to quit quickly and unfortunately, in my personal experience, there are such insidious people who leak data to their flash drive, cloud, everything they see in folders, all your personal developments, developments of the company, regardless of the responsibility specified in the contract ... And the problem is that this cannot be controlled in a simple way. At least sitting behind the back of an employee, or watching the work screen, this is the height of insanity ...

So, my idea is that blender would have an additional, protected format and client hierarchy, (Administrator/User1/User2). Where the protected format is attached to the owner, administrator and has a password to restore access, for example, in the event of an OS change.

How does it work:

  • Download, install the blender version.
  • Protected Format Settings/Activate Protected Format/"Set Owner" and Password (Password is used for administrator format settings, restore new owner rights to access the protected file format)
  • Somewhere in the blender settings there will be a parameter "Make subclient". (Which means by itself, install this client as an administrator, and subsequent bindings, child, with their own names).
  • Blender will create a new .exe inside the program's main folder, this will be the collaborator version, where export, save, etc. actions will be configured in the main admin client, where it will be possible to limit the save and export location.
  • An additional secure format will be needed to prevent other versions of Blender from opening files, except for child and administrator versions.

In this case, the entire organization will lie with the administrator, and child clients can only replenish the database. And accidental deletion of files can be regulated by the OS.

Thus, in order to get the necessary from the file, you will have to fight at least.

Yes, there may already be some protection methods known to system administrators, but I ask that this topic be added and discussed here if the administration allows.

That's something up to the pipeline management tools, not the asset creation tools.

Maybe so. This is just one copy of the idea. I just didn’t notice that this question was raised somewhere, so I decided to think about it and offer at least some option, of course, programmers better know the work map, code structure, etc. But, someone else needs to find out if the program policy will address this issue in development.

I think Blender should not make this kind of adjustment and dedicate all its development to the service of creation and free sharing for all

I agree, but as they say, there is a nuance ... In addition, for example, the same third-party add-ons are sold. Why not sell your own models?

Why did I think about it, because at the last pre-New Year conference, I realized that the blender is aimed to compete more confidently in the territory of the giants. And that wouldn't be a bad thing.

In addition, the freelance market is not excluded in my example, and I rather accept this option. But unfortunately, organizations are arranged in such a conservative way of legal decisions.

But the implementation of security would be an interesting thing for this software.

It seems that such protection should be handled by a file hosting service, and not by a simulation program.

Perhaps this issue should be thought out in more detail in the user's OS, but it does not seem to work that way, for teamwork these are very complex mechanics. Maybe you have an example?
