Grease Pencil Rigging Nodes

Hey,

I'm curious with the everything nodes approach. Is the plan to set up grease pencil to take a similar approach to something like toon boom harmony?

I think the current approach to thing like 2d character rigs, while good, could be vastly improved by having a node based system like harmony. Most of the functionality is there in blender but it's often difficult to make work right!

The project name is "Everything Nodes", I guess the long term goal is to have nodes for everything, that includes rigging.

The Animation 2025 project, that received a lot of attention since around October 2022 does mention nodes for rigging a few times, and we get to see in The Future of Character Animation — Developer Blog a few examples of what it could look like.

Definitely follow the Module: Animation & Rigging page to see where this is going, it requires quite a bit of reading and clicking links to new pages to get the picture of what's been happening the last 8 months and what will probably happen in the future.

Yea I think I was more talking about the current layer system which is where a lot of the 2D rigging generally happens. I was being kind of liberal with the term rigging even though that's included in my question. But you're right that "Everything Nodes" is a good indication that that's the plan. But also maybe not everything has been considered as needing nodes?
