Curves material rendering

Curves are great, but still has rough edges when used extensively. My proposal is to remove material assignment limitation when bevel is used with curve.

Currently each curve in curve object renders in material assigned to it. But bevel is another curve, with it own set of 2d-curves and each 2d-curve in bevel also can have material. But this materials (from 2d-curves in bevel object) are ignored, even if 3d-curve itself has no materials at all

My suggestion is to use materials from 2d-curves in bevel object when 3d-curve in curve object has no material assigned.

That way curve rendering will allow much more simplified setups.

Also, take a look at this proposals regarding curves:

This too would be really helpful and allow to use curve in many new use cases. Switching curve to mesh is not convenient in many cases

Interesting idea, I'm for any improvement on material assignments, both on the object and sub objects. The isolation of bevels can be time consuming to say the least.

I'm not sure how this makes any sense. If I want to change the material on an object, I'm going to want to select that object, not the object that is used to generate part of it.
