Only display non-hidden objects in modifier object list to choose from

I'm using Blender mostly for 3D print designs where I have separate objects for cutouts and addons. After applying the modifier to the main object I hide the cutout object in viewport. Moving to the next cutout object, it would be epic if in the modifier pulldown only objects are listed that are actually viewable (e.g. non-hidden). That would limit the list and increases my workflow speed :-)

The reason I do this is because sometimes a cutout needs to be bigger or positioned differently so I can just load the unedited file which has all the cutouts/addons separately defined and re-adjust quickly.

In my workflow I often reuse the same cutter so limiting the list to only things that are hidden would speed up my workflow.

perhaps it would be best if a special character entered into the search box limited the results to only visible or hidden

* = all things
^ = only visible things
$ = only hidden things
