Please add setting to set Grease Pencil's Stroke Depth Order default (and default to 3D except for 2D workspace)

After searching for days on why grease pencil objects looks through itself (seeing strokes in the back through fills/strokes in the front in 3d) while strength and opacity are both set to 1, I found out that Blender by default sets the depth sorting of grease pencil to 2D.

Knowing that Blender is 3D software and Grease Pencil is a 3d object I think this is not the best decision to set the default to 2D. Yes, there's a 2D grease pencil workspace, but normally people work in 3D and IMO 2D sorting would mostly make sense in the 2D workflow only.

When using Grease Pencil in 3d we now need to set this depth order setting in each and every new Grease Pencil object we add. It doesn't remember the chosen setting and there's no default for it we can change.

So here's my proposal:

  1. Please add a preference setting to set the default Stroke Depth Order for new Grease Pencil objects (default to 3D location)
  2. When a user is using the 2D workspace it would make sense to use 2D instead, so perhaps this could be set in that specific workspace.

Thanks for considering!
