What the point? Tooltips are contextual.

* @ Vyacheslav * I don't understand your point? Tooltips constantly covering the area your looking at is so annoying. This way you get to still see the info and also what ever function your on at the same time. But thanks for the vote down anyway.

* @othoap * When i need tooltip, i am looking at tooltip and read it. When i don`t need tooltips, I shut em off. (and hold Alt to force em). When I move mouse pointer my focus is something around it. So just off em and they'll not annoy you.

* @ Vyacheslav * Having this "Option" would not effect you but could help other people so you would vote it down because you don't like it. Thanks, but not everyone dosen't have two functional hands.

Vyach

* @othoap * I can`t vote up for all, just because it will work and somebody want it. Because developers do not have infinite time. So they should be focused on things, that will help most of users.

* @ Vyacheslav * Yes, I get that but that's for them to deside. You have your opinion, fine but I wish people would understand the word OPTION

Vyach

* @othoap * I understand. And still think, it is useless and bad UI for most ppl. So it should not be implemented even as option. The only alternative is string somwhere in the horisontal bar, like statusbar. As it exist in many programs. Blinking rectangle in one point will be annoying. Or. block should be static, semitransparent. And only text will change.

About one hand: ppl use key-sticking or alternative manipilators, mouses with programmable 10 buttons etc.

* @othoap * In fairness to * @Vyacheslav *, options aren't always the answer. If tool-tips are getting in your way then perhaps that's a symptom of a bigger problem with tool-tips. Maybe they're placed poorly by default. Or maybe they'd be more appropriate elsewhere in the interface.

The problem with the "just add an option" solution is that the Preferences area starts to get really crowded, very difficult to organize, and overwhelming for new users. Furthermore, every option adds a separate set of circumstances that a developer has to test and maintain. For that reason, it's always better to try to think of solutions that are universal and don't require options.
