Being able to set a Workspace per project, like Maya or Unity, etc.

Hello there. The idea is kind of simple and helps to fix some annoyance moving between projects. May be not important for hobbyist but here are the problems I bump every day as a studio employee and as a freelancer:

  • General QoL: When swapping between projects the last opened files listed are from anything I worked. Would be great if the last opened list was limited per project;
  • Freelance meetings issues: When you are working for more than one client and you have a NDA, and nowadays working from home and doing a lot of meetings, it is quite stressful to try to not open the wrong file from another client;
  • Better organization in general: It makes more sense to set / open your project like Unity or Maya (I only know those, I guess Unreal do the same as well), so relative addresses, finding lost linked files, etc. would be easier. Even for library organization, etc.

That is it. There still some questions like what if you have a linked library from another project? How would the file explorer interface would show it? Like a filter? Hard or soft limitations? Anyhow, this layer of organization is quite important for professionals and amazing feature addition as Quality of Life. Cheers.

I've been using Blender professionally as well. I stick to put anything in a folder called projects ( C:\Blender\projects As for versioning i put a number in the file. I know its not a great solution to put it in the name, you might use Git instead. If some major milestone is done, i go up in number. (PS a nice Git client might be source tree, but there are more Git clients). As a bonus Git can create a copy in gitlab so you can go to other places as well. If you want to you could create a git per folder inside your project or do it over the whole project folder.

I got
C:\blender
---\textures\kindoff\ (but i always pack images in the blend as well)*
---\projects (might contain NDA textures/music as well).
---\objects (non NDA shared parts between various projects)
---\music
---\Beta (all alpha/beta and current versions of blender)
---\Addon
---\Test (free time testing .blend files).

I also put on autosave like every 2 minutes. So in case things crash (rarely) i can easily go back to my last save

BTW you got a nice youtube channel
