Show setting changes made in blender file against defaults

Just a thought, I often find myself looking for a way to see what settings have been changed from the default blender settings.

I often find myself reverting to an old blend file to check what specific render settings i have configured for a specific output, sometimes this can be a lengthy process depending on the specific area i am working in.

Is this something other people would find useful? Even a way to output setting changes to an external file would be useful .

When working with version control having the ability to see code changes is so useful, obviously blend files are binary and its not possible to do such a comparison but some method to highlight or export would be nice
