"Lock Object Modes" should be GLOBAL, >or< not in the Edit Menu / Scene properties
IMO, "Lock Object Modes" should EITHER be global , active on all Scenes in a *.blend file, or should explicitly BE a Scene Property, which is what it actually >>IS<<.
And as such should be in the Scene Properties tab, instead of hidden in the Edit menu.
If it's going to invisibly change for every Scene, give users a fighting chance to actually see it.

Btw @jeric_synergy I think if you dont have more upvote it's because people still don't know what you are even talking about. You should add a screenshot to the post (posts with image are always more attractive anyway){attachment blender_2020-05-17_12-12-19png}
Agree, I thought it was some part of user preference (which it better be), and I want to point that it should be disable by default imo.
While it has some good uses. In most cases users dont need it and it's even blocking !
People don't understand why they can't select an object then a pose bone for parenting or weight painting.
Usually users dont even know the tickbox exists and think "This is how selection works" (new user) or "Ok this is how selection works in 2.8, don't know if it's better though" (old users)
* @bernou.samuel * 1) yes, it's so obscure (AND NOT IN THE MANUAL, afaicsee) I should have included a screenie. 2) Yes, it's a bad default to have it enabled. For one thing, it disables the ALT+LCLK Object List popup, so some tutorials become very mysteriously 'wrong'.
