Procedural UVs/vertex colors/etc. via geometry nodes
This is a big one, but: Is there any way to procedurally generate vertex data other than position? If not, there should be.
I ask because I was in the middle making a hair strip addon but once 3.0 came out it was pretty obvious that geometry nodes would be able to do everything my addon would've done, cleanly and with far more end-user flexibility, if only there was some way of creating UVs (e.g.: curve to mesh + curve parameter + parametric UV generation = hair strips)

UVs in geometry nodes is already planned work, a proposal for it is pointless. it's like asking activision for a new call of duty game
Over in the geometry nodes thread on BlenderArtists.org I think I remember a discussion about turning vertex data into uv data.
I was looking to generate gravitational based dirt/drip vetex maps for buildings and I discovered that it's not possible yet in GN. UP!
I came here expecting to submit my idea of procedural UVs and just found yours in the front page. A rework on Blender UV tools and adding procedural ways to add UVs would be great
