Ability to see and tweak vertex colors in edit mode
We can inspect and change vertex weights in edit mode, vertex colours could work similarly:
Vertex colours vs face corner colours will add some ui complexity but it's solvable with "type" drop-down.

Hmm, i just realized: since Vertex colors are now attributes then you can already see selected vertex colors:
And editing is coming: developer.blender.org/T96579 in that form or another,
someone even made patch with similar panel to what You proposed: developer.blender.org/T96866
I guess that vertex groups are going to be replaced by attributes at some point (vertex colors already are wip). So its unlikeley that someone will do vert groups visualisation, but i hope we will get universal way to visualize those attributes (editing is must have).
