Non-affine but perspective-correct texture mapping
Currently Blender uses affine texture mapping, which distorts texture badly when you have a trapeze-shaped polygon. See this post for illustrations:
blender.stackexchange.com/questions/188381/help-my-texture-is-distorting
It is a performance-friendly method but causes a lot of pain with low-poly modelling. There is currently a workaround to apply subdivision surface modifier with "simple" method and a few levels but it vastly increases number of polygons which you again don't want for low-poly modelling.
These days, with powerful computers we have, performance it no longer an issue to the level that we cannot afford perspective-correct UV mapping. SketchUp, for instance, only uses perspective-correct distortions.
I wish in Blender we had an option under User Preferences to switch between affine and perspective-correct mapping.

* @ramezani.saleh.workmail2 * Cool. Just show it to Blender devs :D

* @Ge Ro * Ok, cool, but how to implement this to Blender?
* @einstein *Not a programmer but from the example it seems that the calculation code change is minimal and this is what I wanted to show. I have no ideea of the implications in other parts and tools. I'm sure now that you brought up to attention this question, it will be adressed by someone.
* @einstein * I made a post on this issue here: devtalk.blender.org/t/uv-mapping-issue-on-low-poly-models-affine-vs-perspective-mapping/16636
* @Ge Ro * Cool, thank you! I'm very new to Blender community, so I'm glad someone supports my suggestion ^^
Big upvote, this issue has caused me so much trouble in the past
I didn't realise Blender still did this. Absolutely perspective-correct texture mapping should be the default these days.
this is vital for correctly render camera projections!
This is embarrassing in 2020 even for a free 3d software. Please implement it at once and never talk again about it.
