higher threshold of a magnet snap to nearest vertex using knife tool

I would love to have an option of able to start my knife cut at the nearest vertex with a larger magnet snap. Cause currently it's so precise that the majority of the time I expect to cut on the spot is never successful. So usually I've an anxiety check to also select that part post knife cut and have to do a merge distance just to double check my knife cut doesn't create a separate vertex point that is invisible to the eye.
