Ability to convert a volume texture into a mesh
There is a lot that can be done with volumetric textures. In many instances, it would be useful to convert the texture to a surface (e.g. an isosurface). See blender.stackexchange.com/questions/79576/creating-mesh-on-an-isosurface and blender.stackexchange.com/questions/1551/fractals-in-blender for examples of where volumetrics are used in place of isosurfaces. A useful capability would be one that converted a volume texture to an isosurface.

Mesh to volume fills a volume based on a mesh. This request is to create a mesh based on in the density in a volume.
* @etate * Yes, the volume to mesh modifier will do this also.
* @Andres Stephens - Trinumedia * Thanks for the hint regarding the volume to mesh modifier. It looks like that requires a grid volume which is different than a volume texture. There is a question blender.stackexchange.com/questions/201378/how-to-create-a-procedural-volume-and-use-it-with-the-new-volume-to-mesh-modifie related to doing this and no answer so far.
* @etate * gumroad.com/l/export-openvdb This addon by JYoshi does what you are looking for, procedural volume material/shader to openVDB. Currently only works on Windows with 2.90 versions, as the code breaks in 2.91+ (libraries not being updated, etc), but it's something.
The Mesh to Volume modifier can do this.
