Grease Pencil - Toolbar Eyedropper behaviour

In Draw mode the Eyedropper shows two modes in the topbar: Material and Palette. With Material mode selected it has the following functionality.

Eyedropper creates a new material by:

  • Left click to sample stroke color
  • CTRL-Left click to sample FILL color
  • SHIFT-CTRL-Left click to sample Stroke andf Fill color

This makes sense considering the workflow/rendering pipeline for Material mode.

I note that when the Eyedropper is selected the sidebar Tool tab does not show the Color and palette panel.

With Palette mode selected nothing seems to happen when I left or right click.

Note sure if this is unimplemented functionality or a bug. Logic suggests that in this mode rather than creating a new material Left click samples the Stroke color, CTRL click Fill color, and SHIFT CTRL click samples both Stroke and Fill. In Palette Eyedropper mode the Color/Palette panel would be visible in the sidebar and would reflect the sampled colors.

While it might not tackle everything (like creating new materials), you might be interested by this addon : gitlab.com/lfs.coop/blender/gp-eyedropper
