Vertex Alpha painting why lovely Blender still haven't it?

Hi! I think Blender strong needs for Vertex Alpha painting. During my works in gamedev - I can't fully end my 3ds MAX relationships without this feature in Blender.

Looks like parts of it is in 2.8. From google summer of code 2017 en.blender.org/index.php/User:Darshan/GSoC2017/Proposal

You can use a brush to erase alpha channel, and the alpha value will be updated. (But I don't see a way to visualize it in 3d viewport yet) Image

@Henrik Goldsack: Ah! thank you man I see now. Bad what we can't visualize that process. I fully agree with Emil Assarsson.

@ogneed: You can use Erase Alpha and visualize it if you use 2.79 from builder.blender.org

Also... if you are interested in using vertex painting for games we might need to have the ability to paint clamped and unclamped float values. Now they are only 8 bit values internally in blender. Full float values are useful to store extra information like pivot points and one shape key... or any other creative use (abuse).

I think it's useful to be able to paint each channel separately as well. Like photoshops channel selector where you can paint each channel as a grayscale map. These could then be used for different purposes like layered materials or deformation influences that could be exported to game engines.

please improve Vertex paint in blender, we need to be able to paint vertex alpha with a value, and also to paint the channels individually as someone suggested, it is still not possible to quickly visualize this paint in the viewport without any hack.
