Resurect Mantaflow integration efforts
They died off for no reason, leaving blender users stuck with the dinosaurs that are the simulation algorithms for fluids (smoke included). Let's hope the google summer of code project makes this happen.

This is being worked on for Google Summer of Code 2016
This really doesn't qualify much as a proposal. As has already been pointed out, there's still work being done on the mantaflow integration project. But even if there wasn't, a proper proposal would explain specifically what mantaflow brings to Blender and would give more details on how it might be integrated with the existing toolset.
yep, this belongs to blenderartists
This is on blenderartists, the benefits of mantaflow are well known because it was all the rage... in 2014. WHAT is taking them so long. Development was steady until it was abandoned. Blender's simulation toolkit is old and kind of terrible. Don't you agree that it needs to be replaced?
Except it's been shown that it wasn't abandoned. It's being worked on by 1 person (maybe 2)... and a volunteer at that. Best to be patient.
It should be higher priority. What is with all this cycles development anyway? It is already super awesome. Why not focus effort on other aspects of development like fixing the quirky and sometimes terrible UI (we still use right click select for god sake!)
The "why not doing as I think is better" is an old tune in blender community. As always the only thing you can do (except you're a good coder or will to become one) is wait for someone to code a feature, suggest to code it (this site mission afterall). Meanwhile use other tools or discover workarounds to get what you want. Eventually share it ;)
