Currently there's no way to view the result of an animation render inside blender. This is a basic feature that most other 3D applications offer.

Blender does have an animation player, though it has no UI, and is hard to discover. Proof is that most people seem to not even know its existence

Perhaps Blender could just either turn it into a full GUI editor or merge it into an existing one like the Image Editor, which would profit of the already existing features like the scopes, color picker, channels/pass selection, ...
I was unaware of the animation player, but the lack of UI needs to be addressed. I didn't even realise it was an animation player at first. Also, many features need to be added: viewing multiple passes, RGBA, etc.
i use external animation player becasue blender doesnt have color correction for displays
