Asset manager workflow appending consistent with menu
For now, the Append proposal in the Asset manager is not consistent with the way it works in the menu for collections. When you Append a Collection, you automatically get an instance and not the actual asset. Doing so let us having to make the instance real and clean the empty, but we loose hierarchy and for now also the animation data (including drivers).
As from the 3.5 we have a dedicated panel in Preferences for each Asset Library, we could have in the same place a checkbox to decide if we want to Append the depending collection assets as instances or not.
A reminder could be written in the tooltip on the Asset browser dropdown menu to be sure we have the desired behavior.

Hi Yann! I saw your question on the livestream and if I am understanding correctly I believe I have a solution. It's funny, because I'm pretty sure what Pablo was describing is already in place.
After dragging in (appending) your collection from the asset browser open up the adjust last operation menu in the bottom left of the viewport. Within that menu there should be an "Instance" checkbox. Just uncheck that and you should get your collection with the original hierarchy. I have not tested this with animation data.
Thanks a lot, I have looked through many places but not there… Anyway, my proposal could complete this checkbox as it would define the default behaviour for the library, letting us not to worry about checking/unchecking each time we append a Collection
This proposal comes from a question I asked during a Blender Today session.
