3D/VR view nodes ('The Node-Matrix')

Hi, what if Nodes were displayed in third dimension so as to allow for intricate nodal networks that could be explored in VR?

In general, the use-case is to add further dimension to nodal networks making room for further innovation. By using the already comprehensive set over overlays and view-port display settings, nodal trees could be used to intuitively show a visual link between things in the scene, and the properties between them.

You could snap your view to see them the way you normally would, and by default in the node editor, you could have your view locked to the Z axis. The nodes automatically go into an isolated collection that can only store node objects. All other 3D objects and details able to toggle on or off in visibility. Every node by default exists in z space, but you can choose to default to snapping them to an average world child position directly between all related inputs and outputs. When the view is snapped, to one axis, the nodes average distance in screen space unless your , in which case it will localize based on a specified distance, and the rest will clip.

I have ideas for how it'd work visually, as well as a senior artist title working on all things blender. If guess if this got 100 likes, I could justify putting some projects off, knowing that my idea is worth working on to show you more. Otherwise, feel free to discuss below and let the ideas flow!

I have VR currently, but I'm concerned with how blender handles displays. After updating nodes, everything pauses for a moment while it recompiles everything and this could be quite drastic in VR.
