[Mantaflow] Separate frame ranges for Liquid and Mesh Baking
Hey there!
Imagine you fill up a glass of water from frame 150 to 600 with mantaflow, but you only need the mesh of it from frame 400 to 600 as the glas is being pushed over in that frame range. As of right now you have to bake the fluid to then bake the mesh from frame 150 to 600, which is a huge waste of time as you are literally baking 250 frames of mesh for nothing. You can set the cache to first start the simulation at for example frame 350. However in my specific case, I need to first pour the water into the glass to get to the state where I am able to push it over for a nice effect.
Therefore my proposal: Implement a feature to mantaflow that - in the case of the fluid sim - makes the frame range of the cache independend between the liquid data and mesh bake. This could be expanded to the smoke sim aswell.
What do you guys and girls think about this proposal? Do you think it would help to work faster in blender and/or enable you to get to a result faster?
Cheers! Leo
