VSE Look-Ahead Cache
VSE already have a cache feature but you have to playback the frames first before enjoying the real-time playback that the cache can offer.
It would be great to have a feature that pre-fetches upcoming frames to have real-time from the start and with any sequence duration. It could also keep some previous frames in cache to allow smooth timeline scrubbing.

Prefetch Cache is implemented by now. It can be found in the Preview sidebar.
* @ tintwotin * is it a manual way to precache?
* @Luciano A. Muñoz Sessarego * It is prefetching frames ahead of the playhead.
* @ tintwotin * wonderful!
Well the look-ahead cache is on the works afaik, they did a demo a couple of months ago that looked promising but I havent heard about it ever since
VSE has a proxy feature. It renders film strip into a lower quality file. Then viewed @ 25% resolution which makes playback real time possible.
Might want to post that in the Video Sequence Editor Forum as well.
