Add material to multiple objects at the same time
I've faced this problem a number of times, including while working with rigid bodies, which I cannot just join together, add the color, and seperate. I would find the feature very helpful.
Update: found out how to do it by press Ctrl L > Material

Enable the Add-On "Material Utilities" that comes bundeled with Blender. Now with Shift-Q you can do that. Not only for objects but also for Polygon selections and directly from the 3D window.
It's a design Task with the Devs as well (not only for materials) - developer.blender.org/T54862
And there's been a topic here on RCS with a lot more upvotes for multi property editing (please upvote that one, so that it gathres enough attention). :)
* @Alex * Will this be able to check screen space refractions "on" from multiple different selected material/shader settings with one cick? That would be great. I have now done this multiple times now - getting tired click one by one when i got 100 objects with different sahders (especially setting iamge per shader) :) Just hope this will change in near future with some native blender solution that will be integrated and that dev post sounds good. But did i got it right: this is still under development?
* @juhamukari * Not that I am aware of, sorry. SSR seems to be a material setting and unless there is a way to display properties for several different materials at once it will probably not be possible without scripting your way through, I'm afraid. Probably best to set the setting to Quick Favorites (Q) menu and apply it from there. faster than scroling for each material, I guess.
select all the cubes, then the one you want to copy the material from, then ctrl L > Material is the way to go for the moment, it's a bit disturbing when you begin to use Blender for sure.
* @moonboots * Thanks! I had no Idea there was a link menu, but I will use that quite a bit.
* @moonboots * this is highly unconventional and I really think that there is a need for a more conventional way of adding mats to multiple objects. Some features here and there really seem archaic. Not that they should be removed, I just think that it is a good idea to add more user friendly methods along side the old ones.
* @andreasng * yes, it surprises when you learn Blender then you tend to forget ah ah, also there may be some limitations due to the Blender inner system but I'm not a developer so I could not tell
Is it possible to set screen space refractions "on" from multiple different shaders/material settings with one click?
Select all the object you want to colorize and then select the active object . Now press CTRL+L and select "material" to inherit the material from the active object
