Convert Volume density to mesh
Like the title says converting volume density to a mesh would open up lots of creative possibilities.
Examples:
- smoke/fire simulations for 3d printing
- artistic purposes (Imagine a flame with a metallic material)
- Vastly better performance for mathematically generated volumes (e.g. mandelbulbs)
Potential issues:
- Problems with converting a colored volume to a texture map
- Volume density would need a sharp transition from 0 to 1 at the surface
- Complex volume shapes would need very high poly count

there is a technique for this called cube marching but i think something like volume ray casting would be better en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volume_ray_casting
* @warerare * isn’t the very fast voxel remesher (from the sculpting task) exactly doing that cube marching algorithm?
* @Ivo * If so, couldnt it be also used for volumes generated in the shader editor?
* @sebastianmotzet * yes
