Shader (Node) editor, right click to add nodes

Please make it possible to add nodes by right clicking and getting the node dropdown menue right at mouse position (like in most other node based programs outside of Blender) which makes adding nodes a lot faster and more intuitive. I really miss this. I mean all nodes - shading - anim and what ever should be there like under "Add nodes" on the upper screen menue currently. ;)

If you drag a connection and let it go on the canvas the add node menu should appear so you can select what target node you want. Upon selection the node is created and connected with the connection you dragged. This is one of the few really convenient thing in 3dsmax's node material editor.

* @vangel * This is the same in Unreal, and it always annoyed me. But as an option, sure

* @Darknoodles * Why annoys you? It's a fast method of creating complex networks with a lot less clicking and dragging of nodes involved. I normally have a quite good picture of the needed network in my mind and Blenders way of open menu, search the node, create it, then drag it in place is often too cumbersome. I choose 3dsmax for comparation but in Unreal it's even better solved. Plus you have the benefit to let Unreal/3dsmax filter out any nodes not fitting the type of connection you dragged out minimizing the number of fitting nodes drastically. Blender has probably 1% of Unreal's nodes and less data types and it's still more time consuming to add nodes. 3dsmax's UI is slow and bad in so many ways but still more practical on node adding.

* @vangel * I tend to click a bit everywhere for no reason, or because my fingers are so strong i can't prevent them from clicking, and so i have lot of menu popping :p I know it's a good feature and lot of people like it, and i understand why, but it's not for me. So as long as we are not "forced" to use the feature it's totally fine to me :)

You can define your shortcut as FG showed, otherwise the shortcut is Shift+A, for Add, like in any other editor region (3D view, node...)
