Vector displacement support in Blender
very hope blender can support vector displacement ,like displace modifier, rendering, sculpt, even bake the vector displacement textures. Thanks : )

why the downvotes? vector displacement displaces (as the name suggests) on a vector as far as I know instead of just along the surface normal. I've seen examples that create features like e.g. overhangs that normal displacement can't do.
There's not a problem with the feature itself, but proposals are really much more useful when they describe what their benefits are and a description/image showing how Blender users might see or use the feature in their work. Just saying "I want <buzzword>" isn't really sufficient, regardless of the value of the feature tied to that buzzword.
I guess, it's just a really well known term in cg, and extremely cool, so I was surprised it got so little love. I guess that proves your point, you need more info rather than assume people know what you're talking about.
Cycles Diaplacement is currently getting a lot of improvements and Vector Displacement is definitely on the agenda - there are open design questions, though, like which format to use for the VDisp maps (there's no real standard afaics).
This proposal is very vague. You shouldn't assume that other users and developers are as familiar with feature terms as you are. In this case, please describe the benefits of vector displacement... and---more importantly---how the workflow for vector displacements might look. Mock-up images would be a big help, of course.
Actually, I'm not clear on the vector displacement, this is a video demo from the modo, something like bake the vector displacement map, and than use this into the sculpt, I hope can useful for the idea, video link: youtube.com/watch
I think perhaps instead of telling everyone everyday how poorly they have constructed their idea for improvements of blender all the time (Are you a moderator?).
It may be a good idea to create a suggestion on the front page how you think people should write proposals. A what to include list when they are suggesting something.
You're correct (and I am the admin for this site). I'd love to discuss this more, but it really belongs in its own proposal in the Meta category.
I think mockup would be good of course, but it's not that much about the interface, it's more about feature itself and those videos explain that quite well.
okok. I would like a mockup also. ;)
This would be great, but at first we must get a decent displacement in general. I don't exactly know how this works, but I know that Blender basically needs a LOT of subdivisions and basically real mesh detail to get that kind of result, which sucks. I would be happy just to get that at least and then we could talk about this kind of thing. But yes, this would be awesome.
